Amazon Bedrock – Product Review

Overview

Amazon Bedrock is a fully managed framework from Amazon Web Services (AWS) that enables users to build apps using Artificial Intelligence (AI). This tool allows you to utilize the generative AI, such as the kind that creates text, images, code, etc.

You don’t need to build your own AI models, and the best part is that it permits you to use powerful AI models made by top companies (like Anthropic, AI21, Meta, etc) right inside this tool. It gives you access to some of the smartest AI models out there. For example, you give it a prompt like “write a funny poem about rain,” the output you get depends on which AI model you are using inside it (Claude, Mistral, Meta Llama, etc).

Amazon Bedrock is produced by AWS. It was announced in April 2023 and launched in September 2023. It was not found by only one person, but by the team at AWS, and a few members contributed significantly.

Features

Amazon Bedrock comes with some powerful and distinctive features that help to design and simplify the work:

  • Foundation Model: These models are pre-trained, which we can customize for specific use. We can consider it a smart brain that makes our work easy. It provides pre-built models and gives you the freedom to fine-tune your model.
  • Marketing and Advertising: It generates engaging ad copy, which makes a very smooth connection to its customer.
  • Personalised Description: Amazon bedrock can make a unique and engaging description for each different item. This feature works according to the search volume or a certain type of command.
  • Virtual Stylists: Imagine a chatbot that allows users to search smartly according to their style and performance, or according to specific events. It analyzes your pattern of search and captures the accurate style you want.
  • Trend Forecasting: Amazon Bedrock analyzes the data and understands the new fashion trends, which are helpful for retailers to be ahead in the market.

Pricing

Amazon Bedrock is a paid tool to use, which follows the listed methods:

Pay-as-you-go Pricing:  This charges based on the actual usage of the foundation model. Charges usually differ on which model you use. This pricing method focuses on the number of input tokens and output tokens for generating images, per image.

Bedrock Marketplace: Amazon Bedrock that lets developers explore over 100 popular, emerging, and foundation models with current selections.

  1. Proprietary Model – $per request + underlying infrastructure cost.
  2. Public Model – Only the infrastructure cost applies.

Customization: adds flexibility but requires commitments and MU costs.
