Excellence in Academics

Guillermo Kareh was born in Puebla, on October 11, 1955, into a Lebanese family. His father had emigrated from Lebanon to Mexico, where he met Guillermo’s mother, also of Lebanese descent, and they married in 1954. He had a younger sister, and sadly, all three of them have passed away.

He began his education at the Instituto Militarizado Oriente at the age of three, a school that combined Jesuit teaching with military discipline. Throughout his 14 years there, Guillermo consistently ranked first in his class, earning nearly 100 diplomas and 26 medals. These formative years, shaped by friends and teachers, laid the foundation for his discipline and determination.

Initially aspiring to become a nuclear engineer, Guillermo ultimately chose to study law. In 1973, he moved to Mexico City to attend the rigorous Escuela Libre de Derecho. Out of 375 students who started, only 65 completed the program, and fewer than 45 passed the bar exam.

Guillermo passed the bar on November 21, 1978, becoming the first in his generation to do so. He has been a proud member of the Mexican Bar Association since 1979. His family’s values, along with the support of friends and mentors, have remained a guiding influence throughout his life. Even 50 years later, he maintains close ties with 40 friends from his original cohort, who continue to support each other like family.

Starting a Legal Journey While Studying

In 1973, Guillermo Kareh began his legal career at Bufete Aarun Tame while attending law school, balancing long hours of work and study. Life was challenging, and he often had to choose between basic necessities or traveling to see his parents in Puebla. These early experiences taught him perseverance and responsibility.

After graduating, he joined another law firm as a partner in charge of litigation and was promoted to senior partner within a year and a half. In 1981, he joined Procter & Gamble de Mexico as an entry-level attorney.

With no other attorneys on his team, he quickly proved his abilities, earning promotions to:

  • Group Manager in 1983
  • Associate Legal Manager after completing a six-month leadership program in Cincinnati and Washington DC in 1985

  • Joint ventures, mergers, and acquisitions
  • Corporate representation
  • Trademark management across Mexico, Latin America, and the U.S.

In 1988, he was transferred to Cincinnati for two years to oversee operations between Mexico, Latin America, and the U.S. His daughter was born in Cincinnati in 1990 before he returned to Mexico City to manage a complex patent infringement case between Procter & Gamble and Kimberly-Clark, which was resolved successfully over two years through mediation and arbitration.

In 1993, he joined Grupo Gomez Flores, including Grupo Dina and Grupo Financiero Cremi, later acquiring Grupo Minsa, a corn flour tortilla company. He served as Chief Executive Corporate Officer, managing legal matters, human resources, and financial reporting across the U.S., Canada, and Latin America.

Founding LRS Legal Research and Solutions

In 1999, Guillermo joined DuPont Mexico as General Counsel for 23 business units and shortly afterward took on responsibility for Public and Government Affairs across Latin America. During this time, he honed his expertise in corporate governance and operational management, earning Six Sigma training and a Green Belt certification. His outstanding contributions were recognized with the President’s Award, including successfully recovering assets from a U.S. company undergoing Chapter 11 bankruptcy.

After 12 years at DuPont, Guillermo Kareh founded LRS Legal Research and Solutions, a firm that has been successfully operating for over 15 years. Through his leadership, the firm serves multinational clients such as USG Mexico and Stora Enso, guiding corporate law, compliance, and regulatory matters. He also collaborates with boutique law firms, ensuring comprehensive legal solutions that help businesses navigate complex challenges and achieve growth.

In addition to leading his firm, Guillermo has contributed as an independent board member for Grupo OHL and Grupo ALEATICA for eight years, including three years as President of the Societary Practices Committee. Continuing his commitment to professional excellence, he is currently pursuing a master’s in compliance and regulatory matters focused on preventing money laundering in relation to artificial intelligence at Ealde Business School, Madrid.

The Personal Sacrifices Behind Professional Success

Balancing professional and personal life has been a constant challenge for Guillermo. While at Grupo Dina, he often worked up to 20 hours a day, managing projects across multiple countries, opening new markets, and overseeing operations throughout Latin America. At DuPont, his role in public and government affairs required frequent travel, taking up significant time and keeping him away from his family. These demanding responsibilities highlight the ongoing challenge of pursuing career ambitions while maintaining a personal life.

Balancing Ambition with Family Values

Guillermo has always pursued growth, new opportunities, and challenges that bring professional and economic rewards. With support from his wife, also an attorney, he ensured his family had the best opportunities and education.

His children’s achievements include:

  • Eldest son: Career in administration, master’s degree
  • Second son: Specialization in international business and corporate law
  • Daughter: Successful marketing career in a German company

Guillermo takes great pride in his family, whose support has been a cornerstone of his accomplishments.

A Passion for Legal Excellence

Guillermo Kareh is driven by a passion to excel as an attorney, tackling legal challenges while finding practical solutions within the law. He approaches every situation with a mindset of “how can we make this work?” rather than saying it cannot be done. This determination has guided his career, supported and inspired by his parents, family, wife, and children throughout his journey

Remote Legal Practice in COVID-19

The COVID-19 pandemic, though devastating worldwide, did not significantly disrupt Guillermo’s work. He continued serving clients remotely without major issues and, once limited office access was allowed, attended in-person one or two days a week while following safety precautions. Guillermo contracted COVID-19 twice but experienced no serious symptoms or lasting health complications.
