Overview
Reddit is a rapidly growing social media platform that brings communities together from all around the globe. I found Reddit while searching for a random question, and what I found was far more than a social platform.
Reddit is like a digital playground for groups of people from all over the world with the same interests and hobbies, news, and sharing insights about pop culture or any current event. With over 1.21 billion monthly active users as their everyday gossip couch.
Functioning both as a social forum that serves as a strong social network and an informational hub. This platform offers a unique blend of connectivity and different knowledge that sets it apart from traditional platforms.
On Reddit, there are lots of smaller groups known as “Subreddits.” Each group is for a different topic, like animals, space, games, or even silly jokes. People join these groups to share stories, images, pictures, and ask questions, or they can provide answers as well.
Reddit exists for the purpose of letting people experience new things, talk about their hobbies, and explore different conversations with different people.
Pricing
Reddit is free to use, but it also offers optional paid subscriptions at different prices. One option is Reddit Premium, which renews monthly or yearly. It gives you an ad-free experience and extras like special avatar gear, custom app icons, access to r/lounge, and 100 daily Reddit Answers questions.
Plan | Price |
Yearly (in-app purchase) | $59.99 USD |
Monthly (web) | $5.99 USD |
Yearly (web) | $49.99 USD |
Monthly (in-app purchase) | $6.99 USD |
Functionalities
Reddit isn’t just another social platform; it’s like a giant clubhouse with diverse mindsets and talk about literally anything. Here are some awesome things you can do on Reddit:
Core Functionality-
1. Join Subreddits: Reddit is the base of a very tiny community called subreddits. Each one is like a club for a specific topic, like movies, games, animals, memes, sports, and more.
Example:
- Love cats? Join r/cats
- Into Minecraft? Try r/Minecraft
- Want to ask silly questions? Visit r/NoStupidQuestions
Also, you can join as many as you want!
2. Post and Share Stuff: In Reddit, you don’t need millions of followers or someone with an identity. It is all about sharing stories or real experiences. Whether it’s a funny scene from a day or a random question.
On Reddit, you can,
- Ask question
- Share a photo or meme
- Tell a story
- Post a cool video or news article
3. Upvotes and Downvotes System: There is a feature of the Voting system in Reddit which allows users to curate the content, for example-
- If you like any content, then tap the up arrow to say “This is good.”
- If you see something that is not in your interest the tap the down arrow to say “No thanks.”
This way, fun and engaging posts will be on top, and boring or irrelevant posts will go to the bottom of your page.
4. Karma Points: When people like your post, you earn ‘Karma’ like internet points, which does not lead you to buy anything; it’s helpful for your visibility on Reddit.
- Gold card or high-five from other users
- Shows you’ve been helpful, funny, or interesting
- Kind of like seeing your game score.
5. Comment and Chat: Reddit has more power in its comment section, which creates fun and engaging conversations among people. Sometimes the comments are more fun than the post itself. Kind of joining a group or answering any question.
Why does Reddit stand out
Stay Anonymous: This feature lets users stay anonymous by hiding their real name. It helps people join conversations or ask questions without feeling shy, embarrassed, or judged. It’s a safe way to share thoughts or get advice, especially on personal topics, while keeping your identity private.
Find Your People: Reddit isn’t just for sharing about yourself. It’s a place where you can join groups based on topics you like, such as news, hobbies, or advice. You can read, learn, and take part in discussions without needing to talk about your personal life. It’s all about shared interests.
- Not Your Other Social App: Unlike most social media apps that focus on followers, likes, and perfect pictures, Reddit is different. No one cares about how many followers you have. Instead, people pay attention to your posts, comments, and the value you add to conversations. It’s more about content than personal popularity or image.

Ratings & Reviews –
Reddit usually gets good reviews for its content and communities. But some recent updates have made users unhappy, which has caused a drop in ratings and more mixed reviews lately.

Thanks for breaking something useful. Don’t expect to screenshot a useful how-to post for later because you’ll first be bothered by “why not share this instead”…. I’m not sharing it, I just don’t want to open the app later and hunt it down in my saved list. Then, after you get past that, the extra length shot will be broken with some bits of UI covering words. Fricken useless.

It was a good app, but the recent updates have made it impossible to use for those relying on screen readers. I’ve tried to send in a bug report, but the process of making a bug report is as difficult because of this problem. There are only available settings for TalkBack, and those settings are laughable at best.
