The Future of Niantic and Its Geospatial Vision

While Niantic’s gaming division is transitioning to Scopely, the company itself will be restructured into Niantic Spatial Inc., a new entity focusing on geospatial artificial intelligence (AI). Under the leadership of its founder, John Hanke, Niantic Spatial will continue to own and develop Ingress Prime and Peridot, emphasizing the company’s long-standing vision of blending technology with real-world exploration.

Hanke expressed confidence in the transition, stating that Niantic’s games have always been about fostering connections and encouraging outdoor exploration. He believes that under Scopely, these games will receive the investment and support needed to thrive for years to come. Additionally, he highlighted Scopely’s experience in handling major gaming franchises and its commitment to community-driven experiences.
