Google Workspace Product Review

Overview

Google Workspace, formerly known as G Suite and Google Apps, is a set of online tools created by Google for productivity and collaboration. It includes Gmail, Contacts, Calendar, Meet, and Chat for communication; Drive for storage; and the Google Docs Editors suite for creating content.

There is also an Admin Panel that helps manage users and services within an organization. Depending on the plan you choose, Google Workspace may offer additional tools like Jamboard, a digital whiteboard, and options to add services like Google Voice, which provides phone services.

In the education sector, there is a special version called Workspace for Education, which includes Google Classroom for managing classes and assignments. Previously, it featured Google Currents, which was used for employee engagement.

While many of these services are available for free through personal Google accounts, Google Workspace provides extra features for businesses. These include – Custom email addresses with your domain (like name@yourdomain.com), Unlimited storage on Google Drive, Advanced administrative tools, and 24/7 customer support via phone and email.

Google Workspace was first launched in February 2006 as Gmail for Your Domain. It was later expanded to Google Apps for Your Domain and rebranded to G Suite in 2016, before finally becoming Google Workspace in 2020.

As of October 2021, there were 9 million paying businesses using Google Workspace, and the number of education users exceeded 170 million.
