Carlsberg a popular Danish beer brand across the globe never fails to amaze people with their creative marketing ideas as well as innovative product packaging ideas.
Now, the famous beer brand is about to sell a beer in bottles made up of paper. Carlsberg’s team was working hard on such an eco-friendly innovation for a long. They were on this project since 2015 to produce a 100% bio-based beer in paper bottles.
The company unveiled two prototypes that are recyclable and made up of wood fiber. A barrier inside the bottle holds the beer. The paper beer bottle’s first prototype is made of polyethylene terephthalate polymer barrier while others have 100% bio-based polyethylene furanoate polymer film barrier.
Carlsberg – Beer in Paper Bottles
The companies like Coca-Cola, The Absolut, L’Oréal, and Carlsberg are joining hands together in name of Paper Bottle Community. These companies are working to develop paper bottles from paper fibers.
Myriam Shingleton, the Carlsberg Group’s vice president, group development, stated that “the firm was “pleased with the progress we’ve made on the Green Fibre Bottle so far.”
“While we are not completely there yet, the two prototypes are an important step towards realizing our ultimate ambition of bringing this breakthrough to market,” Shingleton added. The company would continue to work with experts to “overcome remaining technical challenges”, she added.
It’s not the first time that a brand is working on paper bottles.
In 2013 Truett-Hurst Inc. wine company of Healdsburg, CA, produced the paper wine bottle, branded PaperBoy, made from recycled cardboard with a plastic liner. The PaperBoy wine bottles got a huge response from customers.
