GPT-4, the much-anticipated next generation large language model is finally here. OpenAI has launched the model, which was rumored to be in development for the last year. When OpenAI launched ChatGPT last year, it took the world by a storm. The influence and impact of ChatGPT is still in the market and many people today can’t see beyond ChatGPT.
While GPT is being hailed as OpenAI’s “most advanced system, producing safer and more useful responses,” it is different from ChatGPT in many ways. In this blog, we will see the difference between ChatGPT and GPT-4, the latest sensations.
Chat GPT-4 Is Here | All You Need To Know About GPT-4 From OpenAI
What exactly is GPT-4?
On March 14, 2023, OpenAI released GPT-4, a sizable multimodal model. Text is only one component of multimodal models; GPT-4 also accepts image input. GPT-3 and GPT-3.5, on the other hand, only supported text as a mode of operation, which limited users to typing out questions.
Besides its ability to process questions, OpenAI has claimed that GPT-4 shows human-level performance on both academic and professional backgrounds. It has the ability to solve difficult problems with greater accuracy and give more specific and detailed answers to questions. Talking about the word limit, It can work with over 25,000 words of text. This can open up a larger number of use cases like long-form content creation, document analyses, etc.
So, how is it different from ChatGPT?
Here are the major differences between GPT-4 and its predecessor.
- Multimodality: The previous versions i.e. GPT-3 and GPT-3.5 were limited to textual input and output only, which means it could only read and write. GPT-4, however, is multimodal. You can feed it images and get the output information accordingly.
- Increased Reliability: Despite the numerous advantages it provides, misinformation was a major drawback of AI language learning models like ChatGPT. In this regard, GPT-4 is better as it is harder to trick. OpenAI has worked for months to make it much more reliable and safe.
- Larger Use Cases: There is a difference in the amount of information that can be handled by both the platforms. While GPT 3 and 3.5 could handle up to around 8000 words per conversation, GPT can handle as much as 64000 words.
- Improved Accuracy: Although OpenAI admits that GPT-4 is not 100% accurate and has its flaws, it is certainly more accurate than its predecessors. On factuality evaluation, it scores 40 percent more than ChatGPT. Thus, it would be difficult to feed misinformation or hate speech in GPT.
Availability and Cost
Presently, GPT is integrated in products like Khan Academy, Stripe, Duolingo, etc. for various purposes. It is yet not made available to all for free, however, you can access it with a $20 ChatGPT plus subscription.
Developing GPT thus was not a cakewalk, given that it had to follow the legacy of its predecessor ChatGPT. However, seeing the initial responses and reviews of GPT-4, it is safe to say that OpenAI has passed with flying colors this time.
And surely this is the next significant step towards the AI revolution we all are waiting for!
