In order to get Gen Z students to be engaged and interested in the material, Alexander likes to include things that are happening on social media to connect them with the concepts. For example, when Sydney Sweeney’s controversial American Eagle ad sparked widespread conversation, she saw more than a viral moment. She used it to show her Principles of Marketing students how to look at the stock market in terms of what companies are good to invest in, turning online buzz into a real-world business lesson.

Beyond the cultural references, she emphasizes interpretation over memorization. Students are often asked to analyze charts, datasets, and trends rather than simply recall information. Another key aspect that shapes her classroom is accountability. She treats her classroom like a professional corporate environment because that is exactly what her students are preparing for, and she wants them to be ready.
