A Journey Rooted in Passion and Perseverance
Raja Jain’s story is one of sheer determination, unwavering passion, and a relentless drive to create something meaningful. A true visionary, Jain has propelled Samrat Group from its humble beginnings into one of India’s most respected names in the Supply Chain space. His leadership has been a masterclass in turning challenges into opportunities and consistently pushing the envelope to set new benchmarks in service and sustainability.
Raja’s philosophy revolves around a single idea—delivering an exceptional customer experience. This belief permeates every level of his business, from the products they distribute to the innovative after-sales services they provide. His success is not just measured in numbers, but in the relationships he’s cultivated with his customers and the loyal team that stands behind him.
Early Life and Educational Foundation
Born in Sasni, Aligarh, where his family has been manufacturing glass for over 100 years, Raja Jain’s early exposure to business was inevitable. After completing his schooling at Welham Boys School DehraDun and Mayo College Ajmer, Raja pursued his undergraduate studies at Hindu College, Delhi University, followed by an MBA from the prestigious Jamnalal Bajaj Institute, Mumbai.
His academic journey was a stepping stone to the world of business, but his true education began when he ventured into the family glass business. Despite his solid educational foundation, Jain felt the need to explore new horizons. With an entrepreneurial spirit that sought to go beyond the family legacy, he set his sights on diversifying into industries that were shaping the future of India’s economy.
Raja says, “In today’s fast-changing world, knowledge gives you a competitive edge. Money is abundant, but knowledge is what truly sets you apart.”
A strong believer in education and growth, Raja, at the age of 63, at present is pursuing on the campus the OPM course at Harvard Business School, Boston.
The Bold Entrepreneurial Leap
In 1990, Raja took a bold step by venturing into the Supply Chain business. Partnering with Titan Watches, he became one of the brand’s second-oldest associates. This wasn’t just a business move; it was a leap of faith. At the time, quartz watches were a foreign concept in India, where mechanical watches were the norm. Jain’s ability to see the potential of this emerging technology and his willingness to educate the market and dealers played a pivotal role in the success of the partnership.
After a successful stint with watches, Raja expanded his business portfolio to include electronics and construction, becoming a distributor for Philips and Tata Steel. But it was his entry into the mobile phone market in 2000 and then in 2004 entering into the construction market truly marked the turning point. Representing global giants like Motorola and Nokia and at present Tata Steel, Raja demonstrated an uncanny ability to stay ahead of technological trends. His foresight and commitment to understanding consumer needs positioned Samrat Group as a frontrunner in an industry that was evolving rapidly. For the past 21 yrs he has been associated with Tata steel and for 10 years with Vivo Mobiles and lately with Google pixel.
Expansion into Steel: The Steel Backbone of Samrat Group
In 2003, Samrat Group ventured into a new domain—steel. As a Channel Partner for Tata Steel in undivided Andhra Pradesh, Raja faced a steep learning curve. The steel industry was dominated by traditional, entrenched players, and it was a challenge to carve out a niche. However, with his resilience, business acumen, and ability to forge strong partnerships, Jain quickly transformed this challenge into an opportunity. What began as a modest operation with a turnover of ₹6 Lakhs and a monthly trade of 200 tons of steel has since evolved into one of the leading players in the industry.
The key to his success lay in his deep understanding of market dynamics and his ability to innovate. Samrat Group has now established a stronghold in the downstream steel sector, particularly with its focus on construction projects. In fact, over the past decade, the company has partnered with major construction sites moving towards prefabrication. In 2011, Samrat Group made a significant investment by introducing advanced cutting band machinery from Italy, positioning itself as a leader in the space.
This ability to adapt to new technologies and methodologies has helped Samrat Group build a diverse portfolio. Today, with his sons Aditya and Anurag fully involved in the business, Jain’s legacy is in safe hands, and Samrat Group continues to thrive and innovate in the steel sector.
Sustainability at the Core: Building for the Future
Samrat Group’s dedication to sustainability extends far beyond corporate social responsibility—it’s embedded in the very DNA of the company. From its early foray into the mobile and watch sectors to its current role in the steel and construction industries, the company has continuously sought to enhance efficiency, reduce environmental impact, and promote sustainability.
Under the guidance from Tata Steel and Raja Jain’s leadership, the company has introduced several cutting-edge technologies to improve the efficiency of construction processes. Whether it’s the use of prefabrication technologies, or the adoption of advanced machinery for rebar cutting and processing, Samrat Group is at the forefront of the movement to make construction more sustainable. Major projects like IKEA and the American Consulate in Hyderabad stand as proof of the company’s commitment to excellence and sustainability.
By incorporating world-class construction technologies, Samrat Group aims to create lasting value for builders, contractors, and customers alike. This forward-thinking approach ensures that the company remains competitive while contributing positively to India’s growth story.

But Jain saw every challenge as an opportunity for growth, and his commitment to understanding customer needs and providing exceptional service paid off.
The mobile phone sector, in particular, was a volatile industry, with constant technological shifts and intense competition. The unpredictable nature of the market meant that every day brought new challenges, but Jain’s ability to think on his feet and make quick, informed decisions helped Samrat Group navigate these tumultuous waters.
