From a young age, Katie Smetherman Holmes harbored an ambition to become an entrepreneur. Her undergraduate education fostered a passion for graphic design, which was inspired by several exceptional professors.She intentionally started her career at several Houston-based marketing agencies, gaining hands-on experience and learning how great client relationships and strategic execution work in real-time. At one agency, she had the chance to work closely with the two owners, which gave her valuable insight into how the business operated, how client relationships were managed, and how client projects were handled. This experience strengthened her determination to launch her own company.

After approximately five years, she pursued a master’s degree in Italy, focusing on brand strategy and business strategy to prepare for starting her own venture. She graduated with honors and returned to Texas, where she founded Brand Studio Creative in 2021, about four years ago.

When I launched my business, I had recently lost my mother, so I chose to begin softly and move at my own pace. In today’s world, where social media and technology constantly surround us with highlight reels and overnight success stories, it’s easy to feel the pressure to start big and loud. But I have learned that success can come from a softer, more intentional beginning.

Imposter syndrome is something many of us face, especially when we’re constantly comparing ourselves with the carefully curated images we see on social media. Don’t let it discourage you.
