National veteran-focused program to help Kentucky military personnel and family members
LOUISVILLE, KY. (November 12, 2019) – On Monday, November 11, the Louisville Entrepreneur Acceleration Partnership(LEAP), a public-private partnership that aims to amplify the Louisville region’s entrepreneurial ecosystem, announced the launch of a Kentucky chapter of Bunker Labs, a national veteran-focused entrepreneurial organization. The effort will support local veterans and their families throughout the journey of starting their own businesses. The announcement was made on Veterans Day at the Techstars Startup Week Opening Party, a week-long event dedicated to helping local entrepreneurs and innovators get access to the resources they need to grow and celebrate entrepreneurship.
“Bunker Labs is an incredible organization and given that we are only 45 minutes away from one of the top 20 largest military bases in the U.S. – Fort Knox, we knew it was imperative to mobilize the veteran community and connect them to the resources they need to start a business and thrive,” said Patrick Henshaw, CEO of LEAP.
The Bunker Labs chapter was brought to Louisville by LEAP and will be led by local veterans who are also entrepreneurs – Kirk Hilbrecht, Brian Oliver, and Lydia DeLeon Henshaw, a corporate executive turned entrepreneur and veteran’s spouse. The new chapter will host their first meetup on December 2nd from 6-8 p.m. at the Aero Club, located at 333 Roger E. Schupp Street in City.
“Veterans are dedicated, hard-working, tested self-starters who often live the mantra, “Get it Done,” even in the most austere of conditions,” said Kirk Hilbrecht, Bunker Labs Community City Leader. “I would encourage any veteran entering the business world to bet on their abilities and seek out fellow “Veteranpreneurs” to be a mentor or guide. That’s why I joined Bunker Labs.”
