After going bankrupt in 2017, Toys R Us is Coming back with their new store. If you are near any two of these cities, you will be lucky enough to kick into the feeling of childhood nostalgia this holiday season.
Toys R Us will now be opening two smaller format permanent stores. The first store will debut on Saturday at Unibail-Rodamco-Westfield’s Garden State Plaza mall in Paramus, New Jersey, and the second store will open in early December at Simon Property Group’s The Galleria in Houston.
New Stores – Toys R Us
The opening of these new stores will mark the return of the Toys R Us brand’s return to the retail market after the company was forced to close down the previous year. The revitalized brand’s parent company, Tru Kids has teamed up with Target to re-launch Toys R Us’ website.
Richard Barry, the CEO of Tru Kids said in an interview, “We wanted to make sure that everywhere you turned in the store there was interactivity. We have an amazing number of digital experiences throughout the store, but we also have good old analog [experiences]. … Take the products out of the boxes, and kids will be able to get their hands on them.”
In July Tru Kids announced that it will be teaming up with the software retailer b8ta to open the stores again. They will start with opening two stores in the US ahead of the holiday season and are planning on opening 10 stores nationwide in 2020. This would also include a larger flagship of New York.
B8ta, the software retailer has more than a dozen of its own stores in malls around the country which includes the new Hudson Yards in New York. The retailer is helping the Toys R Us brand to lease out space for various toy brands in the store.
