After dropping out of college, he started a business, the Oravel Stays which was a budget hotel chain that provided B&B services. A venture which was started with just 11 rooms in a Gurgaon hotel has now spread to over 65000 rooms in over 5500 properties in India.

Make My Trip was a brainchild of Deep Kalra, Entrepreneur, who is an alumnus of IIM Ahmedabad. Since its foundation in 2000, Make My Trip has revolutionized the travel industry. It was originally launched in the American market, to cater to the needs of the NRIs there, to make their trip planning easier. It was later launched in India in 2005.
