Sony has officially revealed the PlayStation Plus monthly game lineup for May 2025, offering a diverse mix of genres and gameplay experiences to its subscribers. Starting May 6, members will be able to download and play Ark: Survival Ascended, Balatro, and Warhammer 40,000: Boltgun. The announcement was made via the official PlayStation Blog, sparking excitement among the gaming community.
The new selection spans survival adventures, strategic roguelike mechanics, and retro-inspired first-person shooting, aiming to cater to a wide range of player preferences. All three titles will be available to PlayStation Plus members on both PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5, with some games exclusive to the newer console. Sony continues its tradition of providing high-value content monthly, and this batch maintains that momentum.
Game Highlights: Dinosaurs, Cards, and Retro Firepower
Ark: Survival Ascended is the headliner for May, available exclusively on PlayStation 5. This remastered version of the 2015 hit Ark: Survival Evolved revitalizes the original survival experience with updated graphics and performance enhancements. Players must survive in a prehistoric world by taming and battling dinosaurs. The game supports solo play, couch co-op with a friend, or large-scale multiplayer with up to 70 players. Developed by Studio Wildcard, this title originally launched for PS5 on November 30, 2023.
Next is Balatro, a unique roguelike card game that gained widespread acclaim upon its initial release last year. Created by solo developer LocalThunk, Balatro begins with players forming traditional poker hands before introducing Joker cards that drastically alter gameplay. The mechanics evolve quickly, leading to highly addictive sessions that have drawn praise for their creativity and unpredictability. The game is available for both PS4 and PS5.
Rounding out the lineup is Warhammer 40,000: Boltgun, a first-person shooter set in the iconic Warhammer universe. Published by Focus Entertainment, the game first launched on May 23, 2023, and pays homage to classic ’90s shooters like Doom with its pixelated art style and fast-paced gunplay. Boltgun offers a nostalgic yet fresh experience for fans of retro shooters and Warhammer lore alike. It is available on both PS4 and PS5.
Last Call for April’s Titles
With the arrival of May’s offerings, Sony reminds subscribers that April’s PlayStation Plus games will soon rotate out. Members have until May 5 to claim RoboCop: Rogue City, The Texas Chain Saw Massacre, and Digimon Story: Cyber Sleuth – Hacker’s Memory. Once the new titles go live on May 6, these three will no longer be available for free download.
As always, PlayStation Plus members are encouraged to claim monthly games promptly to ensure continued access even after the rotation period ends. With May’s lineup delivering a dynamic mix of survival, strategy, and action, the service continues to offer substantial value to PlayStation gamers across the globe.
